Our Director

Mike Pakaluk

Mike Pakaluk
Mike Pakaluk is the Instrumental Music Director at Lynbrook High School, where he directs the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Chamber Orchestra, String Orchestra, and Jazz Band. He earned the bachelor of music degree in music education from the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT, and the master of music degree in trumpet performance from the University of New Mexico. During his graduate studies he held an assistantship with the UNM Band Department, directing the University Concert Band and the “Soundpack” Basketball Pep Bands.

Prior to his appointment at Lynbrook, Mr. Pakaluk taught music in Connecticut, Albuquerque, and in California. He served as the Instrumental Music Director for five years at Cabrillo High School in Lompoc, California. During his time at Cabrillo he developed a successful concert, marching, and jazz program and implemented an AP Music Theory course into the curriculum.

Mike Pakaluk has studied trumpet with Jay Lichtmann, Roger Murtha, Vince DiMartino, Jeff Piper and Jon Dante, and has performed with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, The San Luis Obispo Symphony, PCPA Theaterfest, the Lompoc Pops, the Santa Maria Philharmonic, the Central Coast Jazz Collective, the Central City Swing Band, and the Damon Castillo Band. Mr. Pakaluk currently plays trumpet with the Mission Peak Brass Band and the Menlo Brass Quintet.

Mr. Pakaluk is a native of Massachusetts. He enjoys golf, skiing, starbucks, and he is an avid Red Sox fan.
