Welcome to the Lynbrook Instrument Music Program and the Lynbrook Instrumental Music Boosters (LIMB) organization, which supports the school’s award-winning instrumental music program – one of the best in the Bay Area and state. Lynbrook musicians are recognized with numerous accolades, both as members of the ensembles and through individual achievement. I invite you to be part of what is expected to a successful and enjoyable season of music.

Our director, Mike Pakaluk, has an exciting year planned for the students/your children, with events such as the first ever district band exposition to be held at Lynbrook High School, a trip to the highly competitive Bands of America competition in southern California, and a wind ensemble performance at the Green Music Center as part of the Sonoma State Wind Band Invitational, as well as other prestigious events along the way.

LIMB is an organization founded for the sole purpose of supporting and benefiting the students enrolled in the instrumental music program at Lynbrook which includes the Symphony Orchestra, String Orchestras, Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, Color Guard, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Winter Guard, Winter Percussion, Percussion Ensembles, etc. We affirm the importance of music education and its enhancement of academic performance.

Parents automatically become music boosters and members of LIMB when the student joins a Lynbrook instrumental music group. This makes you part of the primary support structure of the Lynbrook Instrumental Music Program. Congratulations!

Your wisdom/talent, generosity, and time/volunteering are among the impacts you have on your child’s development and the community.

  • Talent: There are many ways in which your wisdom, imagination and creativity will benefit our students throughout the year, and LIMB looks forward to your participation. And please don’t sell yourself short; we all have abilities to contribute.
  • Generosity: LIMB is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer-run organization. Your donations are a vital contribution to the overall music program support capabilities since public funding is not enough to support the needs of operating a top-notch program. LIMB funds the enhanced instruction (e.g., clinicians, guest conductors), performance opportunities (e.g., CMEA, CBDA, music festivals, exchange concerts) and other opportunities for your child at Lynbrook. Your donations may be tax deductible. Contact your tax advisor for details.
  • Volunteering: The core and backbone of LIMB. Your active participation is vital to your student’s musical experience and an important link to the ongoing success of the instrumental music program. Just as you make time to help your child in the home, there are many volunteer opportunities within LIMB that will benefit your child and others. It’s a very rewarding way to spend quality time with your child… even if they don’t admit it. And as a parent and a LIMB volunteer, you will see firsthand your child's pride and accomplishments.

Demonstration of your support, devotion and enjoyment of your child/student will go a long way in influencing their personal development. I can attest that parents’ efforts which show love and the importance of their child’s endeavors outside the home and in the community will enhance that child’s development as a caring member of society… and you just might get a warm fuzzy feeling inside!

LIMB is a non-profit corporation with a Board, by-laws and budget. There are monthly Board meetings, which I encourage you to attend. These meetings are open to everyone and allow your participation in the work and decisions of the Board.

I am happy to do whatever I can to make your child’s and your experience with Lynbrook’s Instrumental Music Boosters organization the best it can be. Feel free to contact me at david1@nishijima.net or 408-205-8319.

Lastly, it is my honor and privilege to be associated with such a fine group of students, leaders, instructors and other parent volunteers. I look forward to reconnecting with or meeting you this year. It’s going to be great! Go Vikes!

Sincerely,

David Nishijima
President, LIMB
